Butterflies, also scientifically known as rhopalocara from the Lepidoptera order, are described to be insects with beautiful wings. Their physical growth after birth is called metamorphosis and all butterflies undergo this change.

A butterfly has to go through four stages:

Egg

The life of a butterfly starts with a very small, round, oval or cylindrical egg. You can also see the caterpillar growing inside, which happens to be the next stage.

Caterpillar| Larva

This is the second stage of the butterfly. Once it hatches, it becomes a larvae. In this stage, all they have to do is eat leaves in order to grow.

Cocoon | Pupa | Chrysalis

After gaining enough length from leaves, the larva then turns himelf into a pupa or chrysalis. Inside, this is where metamorphosis occurs where the body of a larva rapidly changes.

Butterfly

After metamorphosis, it comes out of the pupa and emerges as an adult butterfly. The butterfly will be on the look out to reproduce and when a female lays their eggs on some leaves, the cycle will start all over.
