Definition

Compound words is the result of two words joined together. They can be used in different parts of speech such as verb, noun or adjective

Examples:

Types of compound word:

1. Closed Compound word

The most common of all. This is what we imagine when we say compound word. These are two words that are joined together and are not separated by any letter or symbol. This is commonly used as a noun

2. Open Compound Word

This compound word is separated by space between and could give a new meaning when read. This can be used as a noun or verb.

This compound word are joined together with a hyphen in the middle. This can be used often as a modifier or an adjective.
