FedEx Files Lawsuit Against US Government Over Export Rules After Huawei Shipping Issue

FEDEX – The delivery company, FedEx sued the US government over export restrictions that affect Huawei.

Following a previous article, the Chinese telecommunications-equipment giant Huawei filed a lawsuit against the United States government.

The US Commerce Department allegedly confiscated the Huawei equipment in Alaska. The package only contains an ethernet switch and computer server.

Huawei company claimed that those pieces of equipment were only shipped to the US for testing at a laboratory in California. They believed that they did not violate any rules.

In May, US president Donald Trump ordered to include China-based phone company to be banned from receiving any technology from their country without a special license.

Now, the delivery company filed a lawsuit against the US government over export rules in China-based telecommunications company case.

Based on a report from Inquirer, FedEx sued the US government over the diverted shipments that were meant to be delivered for Huawei.

The delivery company’s lawsuit challenges changes to the rules. Surely, the company just worried about their business and lots of people might feel unsafety for their packages.

According to the report, FedEx apologized to the Chinese company for their missed shipments. They claimed that it was accidental since it was handled by a junior employee.

FedEx complained that the US rules “essentially deputize FedEx to police the contents of the millions of packages it ships daily even though doing so is a virtually impossible task.”

They filed a lawsuit against the Commerce Department and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in Washington federal district on June 24.

Based on the report, the chairman and CEO of the delivery company Fred Smith said that the problem is larger than the Huawei issue.

“The Huawei packages were only peripherally involved in this lawsuit that we filed, and in fact it goes back many, many years,” said Smith.

FedEx Company surely just want to have the so-called safe-harbor in their services.
