Despite Water Shortage San Juan City Celebrates its Wattah-Wattah Festival w/ Adjustments
San Juan City celebrates its annual Wattah-Wattah Festival despite the water shortage experienced in most parts of Metro Manila.
Over the last few months, many parts of Metro Manila and its nearby areas are experiencing water shortage due to the effects of El Niño.
Several water companies are forced to impose water service interruptions due to the declining water level in Angat Dam.
San Juan City pushed to celebrate its annual Wattah Wattah Festival amid the water crisis on Monday (June 24, 2019).
However, the city decided to celebrate the occasion with adjustments considering the water outage.
The local government deployed only 16 firetrucks for this year, which is far from 50 water trucks deployed over the past few years.
The remaining 34 trucks will be used to distribute water in the areas affected the water service interruption.
San Juan is now celebrating its 16th festival commemorating the Feast of St. John the Baptist by splashing water to commuters, visitors, and passersby.
