Ex-Military General To Take The Role Of PhilHealth, Says Duque
PHILHEALTH- Retired military general named Ricardo Morales is said to fill in the top spot of PhilHealth, says DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III.
This is in response to the ongoing issue in the said firm for the failure to spot false claims as well as the case where officers and doctors are reported to receive P16K to P32K per “ghost” patients.
Health chief Janette Garin further added that people who collaborated in the fraudulent claim were given food and transportation allowances. This resulted in the resignation of former president Roy Ferrer, along with six other board members, as sought by Duterte .
A recent report from Inquirer states that Duque vouched that the ex-military general is the “best guy for the job”. However, Duque noted that Morales’ designation is not yet official as they were awaiting the appointment papers from the Palace
The new president Ricardo Morales was reported to had a quick meeting with the top officials this Thursday morning. The current priority of the firm’s administration is to prevent, detect, and deter any instances of fraudulent activity.
As per the report, Morales is a member of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement, and was appointed member of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s Board of Trustees by Duterte a month ago. He also has a background in run an insurance firm since his retirement in 2009.
