This polar bear was apparently driven to the city, hundreds of kilometers away from its home due to extremities of nature degradation.
The animal, starving, strayed from its home to Norilsk – a major industrial city in Russia, Southern Siberia. It was a female polar bear.
Noticeably, the polar bear has worn out and could possibly be ill.
Reports say, the polar bear got to the ground to stay for hours last Tuesday (June 18, 2019) in the suburbs. During its rest, the polar bear got up a couple times to sniff around in search for food.
Local environmentalists in the region said that this was the was the first sighting of a polar bear in the city in over 40 years.
A Russian local wildlife expert – Oleg Krashevsky, took some footage of the bear up close. He was unsure, however, about what triggered the exhausted animal to wander to the city.
It is also possible that the animal was simply lost. The expert also claimed that the animal had watery eyes that may have affected its vision.
This is according to an article from News5.
Recently, a remote area in Northern Russia was declared under a state of emergency after polar bears came to the area and scavenged for food going inside residential homes and public buildings.
The state’s Wildlife Experts are expected to come to the area (Norilsk) on Wednesday to check on the polar bear and take necessary actions.
