This Institute At Pasig Offers Courses For Baristas And Coffee Connoisseurs
INSTITUTE – The newly-founded Institute of Coffee Excellence (ICE) in Pasig offers courses for people aspiring to become baristas.
A lot of people have been dubbed ‘coffee addicts’ for their excessive love for a nice cup of coffee. Filipinos apparently loved coffee so much that recently, a lot of coffee shops have started appearing.
Some people are not only fond of drinking coffee. some people take their love for coffee seriously and are committed to making the best cup of coffee there is.
Fortunately, for these kind of people, a new institute was founded by Michael Harris Conlin – a Filipino competitor during the 2019 World Barista Championship that was held in Boston.
After his participation in the competition, Conlin shared about his goal to initiate a sustainable coffee economy where people input contributions in building a beautiful future for coffee.
Conlin was the first Filipino competitor in the event that reached the semifinals round. He then proceeded to found the bases of the new Institute of Coffee Excellence (ICE) right after his return to the country from the competition.
The newly-founded institute, reportedly, is a giant step towards achieving his goal about coffee.
Conlin also had spent a lot of time in the coffee business staying for 12 years. He went through intensive training and practice with his passion for coffee. He also traveled the world to collect knowledge about every aspects about the coffee business.

Conlin revealed some reasons why he put up the institute in his statement:
“I’ve always wanted an avenue or a place to share what I know. And the nice thing is, the instructors here at the institute believe the same thing. They believe that we learn to teach future generations to continue what we’re doing, to improve, and think outside the box.”
His institute, ICE, is located inside a group of buildings on one corner of the Sheridan and Pines Streets in Pasig – where other establishments in Colins coffee empire can also be found.
