14-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized, Doctors Find Undigested Bubble Tea Pearls In Stomach
DOCTORS – The doctors of the 14-year-old girl found hundreds of undigested bubble tea pearls or ‘boba’ in her stomach.
One of the most trending coolers in the world right now is the bubble tea also known as pearl milk tea. A tea-based drink from Taiwan.
The drink contains milk flavors, sugar, various kinds of toppings and chewy tapioca balls a.k.a. pearls or ‘boba.’
A boba or popping boba was made in a spherification process that depends on the reaction of calcium chloride and sodium alginate.
It has a squishy skin with juice inside. It boba contains fruit juice, sugar, water, other flavors and ingredients for spherification.
Based on a report from The Epoch Times, a 14-year-old Chinese girl was hospitalized after she got constipated for several days.
The young girl said she has stomach pains, she couldn’t eat and other symptoms so her family finally decided to bring her to the hospital on May 28.
According to the report, the doctors performed an X-ray scan on the 14-year-old’s belly and they find spherical shapes in her stomach.
The doctors said those were bubble tea or boba that were undigested in her stomach.
The Chinese girl said she drank bubble tea 5 days before her health issue surfaced. She was given laxatives to relive her from the stomach pains.
Based on the report, the Chinese girl’s doctor claimed that the girl was hiding her consumption of the coolers from her parents. She has to drink lots of it before she feels severe pain in her tummy he added.
Pearl tea or bubble tea is considered one of the foods that are difficult to digest.
