SP Vicente Sotto Remains As Senate President After Recent Conference
SOTTO – Senate President Vicente Sotto III remains as president of the Senate after a recent caucus with incumbent and newly-elected senators.
Vicente “Tito” Castelo Sotto III has made a lot of contributions in the senate during his years of service. In a recent post, Sotto propose bigger fines for perjury as he attempts to combat the spread of fake news.
Meanwhile, a caucus among senators was held at Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s residence. During the conference, senators took part in deciding the designation of positions in the senate committees.
Sotto claims that the senators have already made an agreement last Wednesday night.
He said that the incumbent senators and senators-elect have already came to an agreement regarding the chairman positions for most of the Senate committees for the 18th Congress.
After the decision was made by the senators during the caucus at Dasmariñas Village, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said Sotto remains as Senate President for the next Congress opening.
Sotto was then asked about the current placement status of the chairmanships for the senate committees, to which he replied “Ninety five percent.”
Apparently saying that the designations are almost complete.
He also said: “We assume all is well. Just one or two committees na lang [left].”
Zubiri, asked whether the senators who participated in the caucus at Pacquiao’s residence supported Sotto’s authoritative position, replied “Yes, it’s SP Sotto pa rin.”

Also, questioned whether he and Pro Tempore Ralph Recto for Senate President remain in their current positions, Zubiri affirmed saying:
“Yes. Hopefully.”
As the meeting have concluded, the remaining vacant posts could soon be decided by the senators as well. As of the moment, there aren’t any reports yet as to when or how the matter would be resolved.
