For the drivers who are members of Grab Philippines, they have to secure a proof of provisional authority to operate from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Otherwise, Grab can deactivate the TNVS like what it plans to do with not less than 8,000 TNVS that failed to comply with the regulation.

Based on a report on GMA News, Grab Philippines is set to deactivate not less than 8,000 TNVS by June 10. It is also set to open 10,000 new slots.

Brian Cu, the president of the company, recognized that it will be an inconvenience to the Filipino people. Thus, the company is hoping that it will be temporary.

“At the end of the day, many Filipinos will suffer from this painful step, both the drivers and the passengers. We would want to avoid this from happening, but we are bound to comply with our regulator,” he said.

Based on the report, Grab Philippines also hope that drivers would take advantage of the 10,000 new slots. The application for the said vacant slots will also begin on June 10.

According to the company, even those TNVS who will be deactivated can apply for the new slots.
