Plantable Pencils That Grow Into Plants, Developed by Cebu-Based Business
Eco Hub Cebu, a Cebu-based startup developed and sells plantable pencils that can grow into plants by just placing its stub on the soil.
The Cebu company produced plantable pencils with “gelatin capsule” tail end that contains plant seeds.
The company said that the plantable pencils are just like regular pencils aside from the capsule containing plant seeds instead of the metal case holding the eraser.
Eco Hub Cebu revealed that the lead-free pencil is made up of sustainable wood, graphite, clay, and non-genetically modified organism (GMO) seeds.
The capsules of each pencil are allergen free, preservative-free, and gluten-free.
The pencils have different varieties including fast-growing plants such as tomato, sunflower, carrot, citronella seeds, and basil, which germinate in just five (5) to ten (10) days after planting.
The firm made the innovation to help reduce global warming and also to raise public awareness regarding the environment.
Aside from pencil, the business startup is also offering other products such as reusable straw and utensils.
