Pantaleon Alvarez was also in the previous reports after Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took his place as speaker. He says he has no negative intentions for Arroyo.

Meanwhile, in the selection process for House speakership, lawmakers are allegedly giving away 500K up to 1M in cash to congressmen in-exchange for votes.

Alvarez was interviewed by CNN Philippines last Tuesday, where he revealed his allegations of the said payments. In a statement, he revealed what he heard from his colleagues:

“Ang dinig ko, dinig ko lang naman, kagaya ng mga sinabi sa akin ng mga kasamahan ko, mayroong nag-offer ng P500,000 per congressman and then sinagot naman tig-P1 million per congressman. [What I’ve heard, I just heard it, like what my accomplices told me, there was someone who offered P500,000 per congressman and then another one responded with P1 million per congressman.]”

He did not reveal any names that could be involved in the alleged case,

He refused to reveal the names of the people who made the offer nor the people who are supposed to receive the money, saying that no one would own up to it anyway.

Alvarez himself was going after the speakership position. Aside from him, three other congressmen also had interests for the position.

Including: Taguig City Representative-elect Alan Peter Cayetano, Leyte Representative-elect Martin Romualdez, and Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco.

Alvarez said that he is going to leave his bid for speakership to the deity instead of following others who allegedly bought their way to speakership.

He expressed his contentment in a statement:

“Parang ang hirap eh, hindi na rin maganda. Kaya sabi ko, sige, okay lang. Kayo na lang. Ako, okay na ako. I will just work in accordance with the plans of God. [Like it’s difficult, it’s not good anymore. So I said, “Go ahead, it’s okay, you can all take the place” I will just work in accordance with the plans of God.]”

This is according to an article from GMA News.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
