Most of the time, grandparents or any family members left their relatives jewelry, art, estates or furniture as heirlooms.

Since it can be passed on from generation to generation, the value of these things can grow through time. They will serve its purpose when you really need them.

Based on a report from Inquirer, the white and cream colored pearl is the world’s biggest natural pearl. Reyes got the valuable heirloom from his aunt a few years ago.

According to the report, the Fil-Canadian’s pearl is dubbed as the “Giga Pearl.”

Reyes kept the pearl on a bank safe deposit and placed a 22-karat gold-leaf octopus as the holder. Insurance appraisers estimated the value of his heirloom worth between $60 million and $90 million.

The mineral broker and an Asian art expert brought the pearl to the Gemological Institute of America in New York City and have it authenticated. He believed that the pearl has scientific importance.

“I want to find a place for it to be showcased,” said Reyes.
