OFW Gets Hospitalized After Alleged Beating By Employer’s Daughter
OFW – An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Malaysia got hospitalized after alleged physical abuse by her employer’s daughter.
There are thousands of Filipinos left their families to find jobs from foreign countries. Most of them believe it’s the only option they have to earn enough money.
Due to the higher cost of income in the country today, they preferred working abroad to pay for their necessities.
There are lots of reports from OFW saying they are physically maltreated by their foreign employers.
Meanwhile, another Filipino domestic helper named Penny Fritz Gutierrez Pido experienced maltreatment from her employer in Kuching, Malaysia
Based on a report from The Star, the OFW has been left hospitalized after she was allegedly beaten by her employer’s daughter.
The 39-year-old domestic helper was allegedly kicked in her head and limbs by her employer’s family on May 8.
“I have 50 stitches in my head. My right hand and left arm are broken. My left knee is also fractured, so I cannot wall,” said Pido.
According to the report, Pido’s employer who is a Sarawakian woman brought her to the Borneo Medical Centre (BMC). Her employer advised her not to make any reports to the authorities.
“When my employer brought me to the hospital, she told the doctors not to make a police report, But after she left, I told the doctors what happened,” she said.
The OFW’s sister, Jackylin Pido, went to Kuching on May 21 and asked the police to speed up the investigation.
“Whatever mistake occurred, you shouldn’t do that to my sister. No one has a right to hurt others,” she said.
Based on the report, the Malaysian politician, MP Kelvin Yii, said he also got his hands on the case of the Filipino and have alerted the authorities about it.
“I’m getting updates on a daily basis. From what I know, the investigation is being carried out.”
“Basically, the suspect is overseas and police have flagged Interpol to locate her. They have spoken once to the suspect’s mother and hopefully, the mother will cooperate with the investigation,” said Yii.
The politician is hopeful that the investigation will be carried out properly because it might affect the diplomatic relations of Malaysia and Philippines.
