Roasted Pigs Wears National Costumes On Top Of Floats During La Loma Lechon Festival

LECHON FESTIVAL – Roasted Pigs wore the Philippine national costume on top of their floats during the La Loma Lechon Festival.

Lechon’ or roasted pig is one of the most popular dishes in the Philippines. It is admired by most of the Filipinos because of its crispy skin, fragrant, and juicy meat.

La Loma, Quezon City is dubbed as the “Lechon Capital” of the Philippines due to a large number of establishments selling lechon in the area.

Actor-turned-politician Herbert Bautista is the current mayor of the La Loma. He classified the city as a major tourist destination.

The annual festival in La Loma is celebrated every third Sunday of May. It has been a tradition in their town for more than fifty (50) years now.

The city claimed that it is the first lechon festival in the country. It is contested with Iloilo, Cebu, Balayan, and Boronga.

On the festival, they dressed the roasted lechon in different costumes sitting on top of the beautiful floats.  

The parade of the lechon is the main highlights of their feast. Aside from that, they also have a street dance competition, fireworks display, boodle fight, culinary competition, and the procession of their patron, Nuestra Señora de Salvacion.

It seems that the parade has started and the heads of the roasted pigs have roamed around the city.

It can be seen on the photo that a set of roasted pigs was wearing a Filipiniana costume. The roasted pig was portraying as Filipino kids playing.

Surely, the parade and the tasty lechon brought delight to the eyes and the tummies of the festival goers.
