Bill Seeking Free Wifi, Clean CR In Terminals Awaits President Duterte’s Signature

BILL – The bill mandating transport terminals to provide free wifi and clean comfort rooms awaits President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature.

The late Mountain Province Representative Maximo Dalog is the author of the bill that provides free wife and clean comfort rooms in terminals.

Senate has already approved “An Act to Improve Land Transportation Terminals, Stations, Stops, Rest Areas and roll-On/roll-Off Terminals.”

Based on a report from Inquirer, operators of the terminals are mandated to have a lactating station and clean comfort rooms in the terminals.

 “The right of every establishment to a fair return of investment carries with it a corresponding responsibility to provide adequate facilities for the comfort of their clientele”

According to the report, they are also not allowed to impose fees in using the comfort rooms, but they have to show their tickets to use the facilities.

“The maintenance of rest areas and service facilities is part of the services for human care of common carriers, hence additional payment should not be imposed on travelers.”

Once it is signed and implemented, terminal operators and owners who will violate will be charged with P5,000 for each day of violation.

Senator Grace Poe said the bill will surely benefit all the commuters especially to those who are traveling to their respective provinces by land.

“An efficient and functional inter-province transport system is essential to ensuring that Filipinos travel safely. In particular, rest stops are indispensable for those traveling by land, as they provide a brief ‘pit stop’ for travelers and bus drivers,” said Poe.

Based on the report, the Senate said the bill is only waiting for the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte.
