How true is it that Megastar Sharon Cuneta is planning to run for mayor in Pasay City next election in 2022?
It is known to many people living in Pasay that the father of the singer-actress served as the mayor of the city for several terms.
Her brother Chet Cuneta tried to revive the prestige of their family’s name when it comes to local politics.
However, he did not win in the mayoralty race against outgoing congresswoman Emi Calixto-Rubiano.
A few days before the election day, the Megastar ranted on social media against the running mate of his brother.
Sharon Cuneta accused Richard Advincula of betraying her brother. On the other hand, article of columnist Ronnie Carrasco in Bandera stated otherwise.
She said that Advicula was paid to go to the other side of the ship, leaving Chet fighting alone.
However, when Carrasco verified this, reportedly, he found out that there was no money involved when Advincula withdrew as her brother’s running mate.
The columnist added that Chet deliberately ignored his running mate, not sharing with him the strategies of their party.
It was because Sharon’s brother suspected his running mate to switch loyalty.
After the election, people of Pasay did not hear the plea of Sharon Cuneta. She asked her “kababayans” to give Chet Cuneta just one term to prove himself.
According to Carrasco, this could just a prelude for the bigger political plan of Cunetas in Pasay.
He added that this might mean a wake up call to all Pasayeños that they “still exist in the realm of local politics.”
Then, the columnist said that “for all we know, mismong ang Megastar na ang tatakbo.”
