89 Drivers And Other Transport Service Personnel Tested Positive For Illegal Drugs

89 DRIVERS – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) tested tested 5009 public transit personnel and drivers, 89 results came back positive.

President Duterte clearly stated his intentions of waging war against the rampant drug-related crimes in the country when he ran for president. After he was elected, his campaign took action and numerous operations have been carried to control drugs.

PDEA also got involved in the movement and initiated surprise operations to support the president’s campaign.

Recently, they tested 5009 truck drivers and other public transit personnel in one of their surprise operations, results of 89 tested individuals came back positive.

Aaron Aquino director of PDEA lead the operation called “OPLAN HARABAS” and tested urine samples at the Manila International Container Port in North Harbor, Manila.

Specifically, OPLAN HARABAS tested the following workers:

  • 584 van drivers,
  • 1,507 tricycle drivers,
  • 195 multi-cab drivers,
  • 261 taxi drivers,
  • 616 jeepney drivers,
  • 1,252 delivery truck drivers,
  • 22 habal-habal drivers,
  • 12 local bus drivers,
  • 111 mini-bus drivers,
  • 440 truck helpers,
  • 1 truck worker,
  • 1 janitor,
  • 1 multi-cab operator,
  • 5 public transport conductors and
  • 1 dispatcher

This is according to an article from Manila Bulletin.

Aquino also said that they conducted the surprise operation in the two major ports in the country: Manila International Container Port (MICP) and
Port of Manila.

Those who tested positive for illegal drugs (methamphetamine hydrochloride/’shabu’ and marijuana) were:

  • 49 delivery truck drivers
  • 9 truck helpers
  • 1 truck employee
  • 11 tricycle drivers
  • 9 van drivers
  • 5 jeepney drivers
  • 3 multi-cab drivers and
  • 2 mini-bus drivers

The individuals who tested positive for drug use are required to participate in a rehabilitation program provided by the government for their license to be released.
