Who are the celebrities who won and got lost this Election 2019?

ELECTION 2019 – Here are the celebrities turned politicians who won and got lost in this year’s May poll based on the partial and unofficial results.

Winners:

ISKO MORENO

44-year-old politician Isko Moreno wins race for mayor in Manila against incumbent mayor Joseph Estrada, 82, and former patriarch of the city Alfredo Lim, 89. Lim and Estrada had Moreno as their vice mayor in 2007-2013 and 2013-2016 respectively. He tried the senatorial race but didn’t win in 2016.

VICO SOTTO

His win ended the domination of the Eusebio clan in the Pasig City who reigned for more than two decades. He is a millenial mayor, a new blood in the field but has come from pan old political name. He is the son of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes.

VILMA SANTOS

Ever since entering the field of politics in 1998, the veteran actress who turned into a politician Vilma Santos never experienced failure. She always wins. And for this year’s midterm election, she ran as the representative of the 6th District of Lipa City in Batangas. According partial and official results released, she had 87,932 votes which was ahead against rival Meynard Sabili who got 55,646 votes.

Santos is Lipa City’s mayor since 1998 until 2007. She served as the leader of the city for three consecutive terms.

  • Jolo Revilla – Vice Governor Cavite
  • Precious Hipolito – House Representative of 2nd District of Quezon City
  • Alfred Vargas – House Representative of 5th District of Quezon City
  • Andrea “Andeng” Bautista-Ynares – newly elected Antipolo City Mayor
  • Jestoni Alarcon – Board Member of 1st District of Rizal Province
  • Yul Servo – house representative of 3rd District of Manila
  • Richard Gomez – Mayor of Ormoc City
  • Lucy Torres-Gomez – House Representative of the 4th District of Leyte
  • Angelica Jones – Board Member of the 3rd Provincial District of Laguna
  • Ina Alegre aka Jennifer Cruz – Mayor of Pola, Oriental Mindoro
  • Charee Pineda – No. 1 elected councilor of second District of Valenzuela City
  • Vandolph Quizon and Jomari Yllana – both victorious as councilors of 1st District of Paranaque

Lost in this year’s poll:

EDU MANZANO

In a previous report, there were reports stating that Manzano was disqualified due to some conflicts regarding his citizenship the reason why his candidacy was put under controversy in this year’s poll.

Recalling, he also joined politics in 1998 and became the vice mayor of Makati with an overwhelming win. In 2001, 2010, and 2016, Manzano also ran for mayoral race, vice-presidential race, senatorial race respectively.

RODERICK PAULATE

Accepting his defeat, Paulate being one of the actors who belonged to the cluster who into a politician has expressed, “Sa mga nagtiwala at sumuporta, lalo na sa mga mahal kong kaibigan…maraming salamat po! Sa RP team ko salamat sa pagmamahal. Mabuhay kayong lahat!! God bless us all.”

Other personalities who unfortunately lost:

  • ER Ejercito lost against incumbent governor of Laguna Ramil Hernandez
  • Gary Estrada failed to be elected as the vice mayor of Cainta, Rizal
  • Joseph Estrada lost against millenial politician Vico Sotto
  • JV Ejercito failed to be at the Top 12 of the senatorial race
  • Jinggoy Estrada also failed to be on the top list of the top 12 senators based on partial and unofficial results of the senatorial race
  • Dominic Ochoa failed to be councilor of 2nd District of Paranaque City
  • Rochelle Barrameda did not make it as councilor of 1st District of Paranaque City
  • Jeremy Marquez failed in his vice mayoral bid
