Meanwhile, in coastal area in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, archaeologists found ancient tools from approximately 5000 years ago, during the Neolithic Period.

The Neolithic period is the last phase of the Stone Age where agricultural developments were made and the use of polished stones as tools came on the rise together with the construction of megalithic structures.

This is based on an article from Inquirer.

A research team from Diliman Campus, University of the Philippines’ Archaeological Studies Program also found broken pieces of clay pots with complex designs. These are believed to be somehow connected with Sa-Hyunh-Kalanay pottery based in Vietnam and ceramics that believed to have come from Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

The excavation was led by Leee Anthony Neri. The processes began in April 22 until May 7, 2019 in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental.

Based on the excavated artifacts in Ilihan Hill, Neri claimed that the early residents of the Alubijid town had live connections and interactions with the neighboring lands in the [now referred to as] Southeast Asia region.

He also said that the pieces from the tools made of obsidian and chert could be from 3000 years BC. While the ceramics can be traced from the Ming Dynasty back in the 15th century.

Alujibid Mayor Alvin Labis said that the municipal might ask the land to be donated to the government or offer to buy the area from landowner.

He also expressed his concern that the area might be destroyed by irresponsible gold miner and treasure hunters following the recent discovery.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
