However, there are areas that where putting campaign posters are prohibited. In fact, the Commission on Elections announced that posting campaign materials on illegal areas is considered and election offense which could be a basis for disqualification.

Meanwhile, in one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites, the Banaue Rice Terraces somehow became a site of advertisement for some candidates for the May 13 elections.

It was also announced by the Comelec that posting of campaign materials is only allowed in designated ‘common poster areas’.

This is based on an article from GMA’s Balitambayan.

In a Facebook post by GMA News,

The news article elicited various reactions from the netizens. Mostly negative.

“Bakit di kasuhan agad ng COMELEC…?Saka wag takpan ang mukha ng mga kandidato na nag violate. National ba o local candidates yan? [Why didn’t the Comelec file a case? Also, don’t cover the faces of the violating candidates. Are those national or local candidates?” – Saul Pocaan

“Tindi pala ng Election dun.. Pati mga palaka, ahas, tipaklong bumubuto na rin. [The election there is extreme. Even frogs, snakes and grasshopers get to vote.]” – Levric Asares

“Sana magkaroon ng batas na bawal na ang paggamit ng papel at plastic during election kc nagiging basura ito sa bawat barangay at ating mahal na kalikasan ito ang dapat unahin ng mga legislative na bawal na bawal gumamit. [I hope there’s a law against the use of paper and plastic during election [campaigns] because it eventually becomes garbage for barangays and out beloved nature. This is what legislatives should deal with first.]” – Maria Victoria Vistan

It was not mentioned if the candidates responsible were penalized for the posters. The names of the candidates were also hidden.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
