Australian Writer Insults Filipino Food, Receives Backlash Online

AUSTRALIAN WRITER – An Australian writer Kate Walton received criticism online after she insulted the Filipino food.

Filipino cuisine is mixed with Chinese, Indian, American, and Spanish influences.

Among the famous Pinoy food are Lechon, Kaldereta, Adobo, Dinuguan, Pochero, and Pinakbet.

Meanwhile, an Australian writer based in Jakarta, Indonesia receives lots of feedbacks online after saying the Filipino food is “bland” and “worst in the region.”

It started after the Feminist activist Kate Walton commented on Cornell University professor Tom Pepinsky’s Tweet. He ranked the food in Southeast Asia.

The Australian writer commented, “Filipino food is definitely worst in the region” on the professor’s post.

Tom Pepinsky also ranked the Pinoy food in the bottom of the list. Vietnamese, Laos, Singaporean and Malaysian is on the top of his list.

After the Filipino bashed the Australian writer’s Tweet, she reacted saying, ”Lol Filipino Twitter saw my reply to @TomPepinsky about Filipino food and now they’re mad. Sorry Filipino food is bland. I’ll choose spicy food over it any day”

The Australian writer didn’t seem bothered by the Filipino’s reaction. Though she apologized for her words, she will not delete her Tweet.
