These facts ended the speculations about the cause of death of Julie Vega
Julie Vega, one of the most promising young actresses during her time, had a clouded story when it comes to the cause of her death in 1985.
Her death, a few days before she turns 17, became a piece of national news in the Philippines.
It was the talked of the town during that time, especially that people started to speculate about the cause of her death.
Some said that she was a victim of “kulam” or a curse from a witch while some said that she was possessed by an evil spirit.
These speculations were results of the last movie she did before she died. Julie played the role of a demon-possessed in the Akin Ang Walang Diyos episode of Lovingly Yours Helen, The Movie back in 1984.
After doing the movie, her health started to deteriorate. The speculations that time held a strong conviction among many people.
However, it was revealed that Julie Vega died due to Guillain-Barre syndrome, based on the report from PEP.
Mayo Clinic explains this medical condition as: “a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms.”
On the other hand, in 1985 the hospital pointed out that the cause of her death was pneumonia. Filipinos during that time had no idea about the syndrome.
This May 6 is the 34th death anniversary of Julie Vega.
Her disorder back then is now easily detected through medical advancement. Based on the report, Kuya Kim Atienza also had this rare disorder. However, it was detected early and so he was able to survive.
