Mother Raise Public Awareness After Incident in Mall’s ‘Play Area’

MOTHER – A mother shared the tragic incident that happened to her daughter’s ears in a mall’s ‘play area’

Playground or play area is an entertaining place for kids. Parents preferred letting their kids stay for longer hours because it’s safe and they have a lesser chance to get hurt.

The surface and facilities of the playground should always be considered because there are some kids move a lot.

Meanwhile, a mother of two named Merlyn Tok shared a post in social media narrating an incident that happened to her and her daughters.

According to her Facebook post, she and her two daughters went to a famous mall in Singapore, North Point City.

They went to a certain play area and let her kids enjoy the facilities with other kids.

The mother said one of her daughter Kayla complained about an itch in her ear. After checking her ear, she saw 3 small plastic beads stuck on in her right ear.

Merlyn Tok was quick to identify that the little plastic beads on her daughter’s ear were from the “sand pit.”

The mother also checked the ear of her other daughter Faith and realized that she also got 1 bead on her right ear.

She said they visited an Ears, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor to remove the beads from her daughter’s ears. Fortunately, the bead did not injure their eardrums during the removal.

The mother went back to the playground the following week to talk to staff, inform them about the incident and raise awareness to other parents. However, she was not pleased with their response.

“They must’ve been playing and putting the beads into their ears. Go see a doctor and bring the bill to us, we will reimburse”, they said.
