NGCP Places Luzon Grid Under Red Alert
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under red alert for the fourth day straight already.
On Thursday (April 25, 2019), NGCP announced that parts of Luzon are expected to experience rotational brownouts at various time schedules.
The rotational brownouts would probably occur during the time schedules when the red alert is raised.

The Luzon grid has been placed under consecutive red alerts over the past few days due to the magnitude 6.1 earthquake causing several power plants to malfunction.
Here is the list of following hours for yellow and red alerts:
Yellow Alert
- 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m
- 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m
- 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m
Red Alert
- 10:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m
- 6:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m
The available capacity of Luzon grid is only 10,707MW while the peak demand was expected to hit 10,534MW.

The Department of Energy (DOE) was about to release further details and updates regarding the matter later in the day.
