Number Coding Scheme Suspended on April 17-22, 2019

MMDA Cancels Number Coding Scheme on April 17-22, 2019

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will suspend the number coding scheme starting April 17 until April 22, 2019.

Holy Week 2019 is one of the longest holidays in the Philippine Calendar giving the Filipino people more time to enjoy a longer vacation.

Some people usually rush to their point of destination before the Lenten Season so they could spend the holidays together with their family and friends.

However, Filipino commuters and motorists usually experience traffic congestions on their way due to the massive amount of people heading to their respective provinces.

Recently, MMDA announced that they will lift the number coding scheme starting Holy Wednesday (April 17) until Monday (April 22).

This year’s number coding suspension is a bit longer than last year which lasts only until Easter Sunday.

Number Coding Scheme

The number coding was set to resume on April 23, 2019 (Tuesday).

MMDA explained that the cancellation of number coding aims to ensure that that is enough public utility vehicles for the passengers.

“The suspension of the number coding is to ensure that there is enough public utility vehicles to serve commuters heading to their respective provinces and allow motorists to use their vehicles going to their destinations up to their return to Metro Manila after the Lenten break,” MMDA said.
