The Scorching Heat Index Was Recorded Yesterday
PHILIPPINES’ HIGHEST HEAT INDEX – 51.7ºC heat index in Dagupan beats the highest heat index recorded before at 42ºC in NAIA Pasay City.
Heat index is different from atmosphere temperature. Heat index is the level of heat felt by the human body, which is tad bit higher than the actual atmospheric temperature.
Recently, the Department of Health released an announcement warning the public about health problems that may come with heat and humidity.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAG-ASA warns the public of the possible threats that may come with hot temperature. This include heatstroke, dehydration and heat exhaustion.
They advised the public to drink plenty of water and to put on light weight and light-colored clothing.
As of the case of the weather, it was revealed that the country will continue to experience hot weather until May this year.
According to an article from Philstar, The Department of Health or DOH also warned the public about swimming in public pools.
In an interview, it was revealed by the country’s Health Undersecretary Eric Domingo that dirty waters from swimming pools may cause sore eyes and skin problems.
He said that people with sore eyes or skin infection may spread the virus or bacteria through the water in swimming pools. Hence, more people will get infected and that an epidemic may happen in that specific area.
Eric Domingo also wants the public to be aware of diseases that are common during the summer such as:
- heatstroke,
- chicken pox,
- measles,
- rabies and,
- dengue.
He said that people with skin problems should refrain from going to public swimming pools as the wounds or rashes might get infected.
That is all there is to if, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
