Allison Mack pleads guilty to racketeering charges
Smallville actress Allison Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering charges for
blackmailing two women as part of an alleged New York cult.
The actress, who played the role of Chloe Sullivan in a series about the young Superman, admitted her wrongdoings before the Brooklyn federal court on Monday.
Based on the report from Rolling Stone, Mack tearfully said she took “full responsibility for [her] conduct”.
She also apologized to all the victims. “I’m very sorry for who I’ve hurt through my misguided adherence to Keith Raniere’s teachings,” she said.
Keith Raniere is an Albany-based guru and leader of the self-help group NXIVM. He is facing sex trafficking and child pornography charges.
In addition, Allison Mack admitted that she kept a slave and instructed women in the group to perform services for her. She also confirmed that members were required to provide naked photos of themselves and other blackmail material before they were allowed to join.
It was also alleged that the actress was a lead recruiter in an all-female sect called DOS which provide sex slaves for Raniere. A report also alleged that slaves have Mack and Raniere’s initials. Victims were also forced to provide embarrassing collateral that will be used against them once they will leave the cult.
Seagrams heiress Clare Bronfman also pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering and identity theft,
In addition, Nancy Salzman, the former founder of NXIVM, and her daughter Lauren Salzman also pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges, based on the report.
Allison Mack is faces 20 years in prison under these charges.
