Two-headed Piglet Discovered in Isabela, Echague

Breeder Swine Birthed a Rare Two-Headed Piglet in Isabela

TWO-HEADED PIGLET – A very rare phenomenon was witnessed by hog raiser Mar Balauag from Brgy. Santo Dominggo, Isabela.

Balauag discovered that one of the 13 offspring of his breeder swine had a unique feature. It was a rare two-headed piglet.

His swine breeder was completely normal and so are the thirteen other offspring. But the last one to come out had rare abnormal birth defect.

IT HAS TWO HEADS! The young had two complete sets of eyes, nose, mouth and other facial features in one body.

The rare sight drove Mar Balauag to share a photo of the unique piglet online. This was clearly a first time. He apparently said:

“I have been raising hogs for decades but this is my first time to see such a bizarre-looking piglet,”

Mar Balauag, 30

This is according to an article from Bandera.

After the discovery, the 30-year-old hog raiser brought the rarely seen young swine to a veterinarian following that it has reportedly been growing weaker. He took it to Dr. Kimberly Visaya, who told him that the rare appearance is a result of a genetic defect and abnormal animal births.

The two-headed piglet caught the attention of many netizens online after its photo was posted by Maylen Binalay. It event went further and was featured on GMA News‘ official Facebook page.

Then, netizens saw the post and shared their thoughts on the comments section. And some even had the wit to think of clever jokes:

“KaraMia joined the group…” – Alinhel Rafol Tayubong

“Wag kayung mag alala mayang gabi maghihiwalay yan kapag namulaklak yung malunggay…” – Jr Avelino Bugagon Datuin

One of the commenters compared the two-headed pig to the main character of the GMA TeleSerye “KaraMia”. KaraMia is a character from a Filipino TV Series who also had two separate faces functioning in one body. This explains the relevance.

That’s all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we get them.
