DA Introduces PH’s First Signal No. 5 Typhoon-Resilient Monolithic Dome

On March 27, the DA introduced the monolithic dome in the Philippines.
Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol took to the social media to announce the good news to the whole nation. He said it will serve as the warehouse for grains in Cagayan.
The first monolithic dome was constructed in the town of Iguig, Cagayan. It was designed by German engineers and constructed by the Pinoy. Each dome costs P10 million while the smaller one cost about P5 million each.
Manny Piñol said the dome could endure a tropical typhoon with warning signal number 5. Aside from that, it could also withstand the heat of the sun.
The DA is planning to build more domes situated in typhoon tracks like
Bicol Eastern and Western Visayas, Ilocos, Southern Tagalog including Mindoro, Central Luzon, and Cordillera Regions.
