MWSS Officials Receive Warning from Pres. Duterte On Possibility to Fire Them Over Water Crisis
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte warned the officials of MWSS on the possibility that he will fire them over the water crisis in Metro Manila.
One of the current issues in the Philippines now is the water crisis in some parts of Metro Manila. A lot of residents are suffering from water shortage and it has reached the Office of the President.
Previously, the President has made an order to MWSS to demand water from the responsible offices for the affected residents in Metro Manila. He wanted a 150-day water supply for the people.
The President ordered the responsible offices to release water from the Anggat Dam. According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, he even expressed to personally come to the offices if they will fail to comply.
Recently, an update regarding the water crisis in some parts of Metro Manila crossed the surface.
Based on a report on CNN, Pres. Duterte has met with the officials of MWSS and he warned them on the possibility that he will fire them over the water crisis.
According to Panelo, it was a 40-minute “presidential monologue” wherein the President told the MWSS officials to “shape up or ship out”.
Based on the report, among the MWSS officials who were present during the meeting with the President were MWSS Chairman Franklin Demonteverde, MWSS Administrator Reynaldo Velasco, and MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty.
The officials of Maynilad and Manila Water were also present at the meeting. According to Velasco, the President does not want that the people are suffering.
The MWSS Chairman also added that he is fixing the problem now so he won’t be fired. They are tasked to submit a report on how to solve the problem.
