FDA Speaks on Meat Products Ban from 7 Countries

MEAT PRODUCTS BAN – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spoke on the banning of the processed meat products from seven(7) countries.

Previously, the authorities and as well as the citizens were quite alarmed after the threat of the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus has reached the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

A sample from Vietnam reportedly tested positive which prompted the authorities in the Philippines to ban pork imports from Vietnam. It is for the purpose of protecting the local hog industry in the country.

Recently, a news report in line with the meat products ban has crossed the surface. Based on a report on PhilStar, currently, there is also banning of processed meat products from seven(7) other countries.

Meat Products Ban

The said seven (7) countries involved in the temporary banning of meat imports are the following:

  • China
  • Hungary
  • Poland
  • Latvia
  • Ukraine
  • Russia
  • Romania

FDA Chief Nela Charade Puno reportedly warns the public with regards to buying and eating pork products coming from other countries and did not passed the FDA registration.

Based on the report, the FDA is currently doing post-marketing surveillance to make sure that the order is observed. The move is, visibly, for the safety of everyone most especially the consumers.
