Manny Pacquiao Might Face Keith Thurman If Mayweather Stay Retired
The Filipino boxing superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao might face the undefeated Keith Thurman instead of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
WBA welterweight champion Senator Manny Pacquiao could fight the undefeated boxer Keith Thurman if Floyd Mayweather Jr. decides to stay retired.
Keith Thurman is known for his one-punch knockout and has given a nickname of “One Time” because of his powerful punch.
The 30-year-old Thurman called out Pacman to determine the real WBA king during his vacation on Tokyo, Japan together with his Nepalese wife Priyana Thapa.
Thurman also described the welterweight division as full of talented fighters and explained that boxing is one of the hardest sports in the world.
“A lot of talent, a lot of fighters. I always say the welterweight division is the biggest of the small guys. It’s a very athletic division. A lot of people don’t understand the life of a fighter. Boxing is one of the hardest sports in the world. You need strength, conditioning, stamina, reflexes,” Thurman said.
Thurman’s willingness to fight in the Philippines is one of the major reasons why he became a leading candidate to be the next opponent of Pacquiao.
“Bring it in the ring, maybe Brooklyn, maybe Las Vegas, wherever Pacquiao wants it. I’d fight him in the Philippines if I had to,” Thurman said.
