Monsoon Break Expected Over the Entire Philippines

PAGASA said that the entire Philippines was expected to experience a temporary monsoon break due to the weakening northeast monsoon.

On Wednesday (February 6, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) sad that the northern is under the influence of high-pressure area’s ridge.

The high pressure area is an anti-cyclone weather system preventing the formation of low-pressure area and tropical cyclones.

The state weather bureau explained that high-pressure area’s ridge would let the entire archipelago to experience a monsoon break temporarily.

The localized thunder storms would bring cloudy weather conditions with isolated rainshowers over the Aurora, Quezon, Palawan, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas and Mindanao.

The Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions due to the weak northeast monsoon.

PAGASA also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.

The northeast monsoon usually reaches its peak during February and prevailing around October to March.

The weather agency said that the chance of tropical cyclone’s formation this month remains small.
