Fake Rabies Vaccines Circulating in Markets Nationwide Under DOH Investigation

The Department of Health (DOH) is currently investigating the fake rabies vaccines circulating in different markets nationwide.

Previously, the reports regarding the fake rabies vaccines spreading in various markets has been one of the most controversial topics in the country.

Last week, new about the Geramil Trading, a wholesale distributor accredited by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allegedly distributes counterfeit rabies vaccines in a hospital.

Fake Rabies Vaccines

Geramil Trading explained that they don’t have an idea that the rabies vaccines they have distributed are fake.

DOH Undersecretary Enrico Domingo urged the hospitals to carefully examine medical supplies and check whether the items are authentic and accredited by FDA.

“Double-check your supplies, just to make sure na talagang hindi tayo nasingitan nitong fake na vaccine na ito,” Domingo said.

Fake Rabies Vaccines

Domingo clarified that the counterfeit vaccines doesn’t have a serious impact on body’s health but those who received the vaccine could return to the hospital for real vaccines.

The French drugmaker Sanofi Pasteur, the authentic manufacturer of anti-rabies vaccines said that the vaccines were copied and sold in the Philippines.
