1 Police Officer Slain, 7 Companions Injured In Magpet, Cotabato IED Blast

POLICE OFFICER SLAIN – 1 police officer slain while his 7 companions got injured after IED explosion in Magpet, North Cotabato.

Being a police officer or an army is largely about sacrifice. They serve the country with selfless motivations in order to maintain the peace and order of the country.

These officers arrest perpetrators who are doing criminal act against the government. One of the longest-running enemies of the state is the New People’s Army.

The New People’s Army operates mostly in rural areas all over the Philippines. They extort money from the people or mostly in businesses.

The government tried to settle with these rebels but won’t accept any agreement until it soured in 2017. President Rodrigo Duterte declared the NPA as terrorist.

Based on a report from Philstar, the 2 NPA had a clash with the Army’s 19th Battalion leaving one rebel dead last Sunday in North, Cotabato.

On Monday evening, the leftist rebels took their vengeance and planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

According to the report, a police officer named PO1 Christopher Anadon died from the explosion said, Superintendent Aldrin Gonzales.

Seven companions of the slain cop got injured and were immediately sent to the nearby hospital. Those injured police officers are PO2 Marinerl Pastores, SPO1 Michael Mariano Escano, PO1 Eliezer Langcuban, PO1 Darrell Ferolino, PO1 Phil Jan Ray Canarejo, PO1 Vincent Capilitan, and PO1 Franz Deo Lechago.

Based on the report, PO1 Christopher Anadon and the two teams were from their security mission from North Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force. On their return, their vehicle was hit by a powerful explosion in the town of Magpet.

Superentindent Aldrin Gonzales stated that the New People’s Army were behind the explosion that evening. The police stated that the IED was packed with sharp metals.
