Authorities Placed Jolo Under Lockdown After Church Bombing

Sulu province’s Jolo town has been declared by the security forces under a lock-down after the bombing at the Mount Carmel Cathedral.

The violent bombing at a Catholic Church in Barangay Walled City, Jolo town in Sulu shocked the Filipino people.

The fatal explosion at the Mount Carmel Cathedral took the lives of about 20 people causing fear to the residents in the area.

On Monday (January 28, 2019), the security forces declared Sulu province’s Jolo town under a lock-down.

The police officers, servicemen, and government officials are the only allowed entering Jolo, according to the lockdown rules.

The authorities have also set checkpoints and placed the province on high alert tightening the security throughout the entire of Sulu.

The security forces in Isabela and Lamitan have been also raised aside from Jolo.

The authorities believe that Ajang-Ajang group, a subgroup of Abu Sayyaf as the responsible over the fatal blast.

President Rodrigo Duterte was also expected to visit the victims of Jolo bombing.
