Quezon City Offers Rent-To Own Option For Selected Bistekville Beneficiaries

QUEZON CITY – The mayor of Quezon City, Herbert Bautista, offered the rent-to-own option for the selected informal settlers.

Informal settlers are the people who build their houses without the legal permits from the owners or the government.

Their houses were made from low-quality materials like corrugated tin or plywood. There are thousands of families in the Philippines who are informal settlers.

Luzon has the most squatters’ area in the country. In 2010, the MMDA recorded 2.8 million squatters in Metro Manila. The population in this place grew faster because of migration and hope to have a job in the big city.
