215 Families Evacuate as Davao City Waters Hit Critical Levels

DAVAO CITY RIVERS – The water in the rivers in Davao City has reached the critical levels thus 215 families evacuated for their safety.

Most especially during the bad weather, the public is reminded to monitor the updates to be fully aware in case there is a call for evacuation. It is all for the safety of the people.

One of the places wherein lots of people recently left their residences and transferred to evacuation centers is Davao City.

Based on a recent report in Manila Bulletin, the increasing levels of water in Davao City rivers prompted the evacuation of more than 200 families. The water hit the critical levels.

According to the report, the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office advised the residents most especially those living near the river for a preemptive evacuation.

Possible flooding due to the presence of moderate to heavy rains was forecast. At around 10:42 in the evening last night, forced evacuation took place in Barangays 1-A, 2-A, 40-D, and 76-A.

Based on the report, the City Hall Annex siren was sounded to prompt the forced evacuation.

The Bunawan river hit the Orange Level or the Warning Level. Thus, forced evacuation were also conducted in Barangays Mandug, Bunawan, Callawa, Maa, and Tigatto.

A total of 215 families were evacuated according to Davao City Police Office Director Alexander Tagum. According to the CDDRMO, as of 4:41 am, the water level is subsiding but the strong current is still evident.

Based on the report, the residents are advised to monitor the updates and wait for notice before going back to their houses. We’ll keep you posted for updates.
