Rockwell Bridge Closed by DPWH For Over 2 Years

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently closed the Rockwell Bridge for more than two years starting today.

On Saturday (January 19, 2019), the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge or popularly known as the Rockwell Bridge has been shut down by DPWH.

The Rockwell Bridge connects the cities of Makati and Mandaluyong used by massive amounting of motorists every day.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) would replace the two-lane bridge with four-lane structure that could accommodate the soaring numbers of motorists in the area.

MMDA EDSA traffic czar Bong Nebrija said that the bridge replacement is a part of the Duterte Administration’s program grant by the Chinese government.

Nebrija also explained that two augmentation teams of eight traffic enforcers will be deployed by the Mandaluyong City government to address the traffic issue on EDSA.

Four traffic enforcers will be assigned in the morning and four in the afternoon particularly along Conrado street wherein traffic is expected to buildup.

17 traffic enforcers will be also deployed by MMDA on EDSA from Guadalupe to Buendia.

The bridge closure would cause delay on travel time of the motorists, which might not exceed 16 kilometers during rush hours.
