Mangroves in Iloilo Cut Without Permit from

A senior citizen named Violeta Pedroso complained about mangroves cut with a permit from DENR in Barangay San Pedro Molo, Iloilo City.
A Mangrove is a small tree that usually grows in coastal saline, which is also used for tropical coastal vegetation.
This plant species are salt-tolerant trees and are adapted the life in harsh coastal water conditions that playing an important role in our environment.

The Facebook page “Bombo Radyo Iloilo” has shared the photos of mangrove trees cut in Iloilo City without permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
A 63-year-old senior citizen got shocked after several men suddenly cut her ornamental plants and mangrove trees.

Pedroso was suspecting Barangay Tanod Wilfredo Mallon as the responsible for cutting the mangrove trees in the area.

Cutting mangrove trees without permit from the Environment Department are prohibited and considered as a violation of the law.
Anyone who will be caught violating the law will face corresponding sanctions and penalties.
The incident has been already reported and blotter at Molo Police Station.
