New Guidelines in Getting Driver’s License Issued By LTO

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued new guidelines and regulations in processing and acquiring a driver’s license.

LTO released new rules and regulations in releasing driver’s license including that they will only accept medical certificates online from the accredited clinics and doctors.

The new policy covers those who would like to apply for a student permit and for those who will renew their driver’s license.

This government agency discovered irregularities in the medical certificates submitted by several applicants.

The Memorandum Circular No. 2018-2157 states that accredited clinics and doctors are the only authorized to submit certificates online.

The agency has already imposed the new policy in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region 11.

Here are the dates and places wherein the policy will be implemented:

  • January 14 (Monday) – Regions 5, 4A, 4B at 7
  • January 21 (Monday) – Regions 6 and 9
  • January 28 (Monday) – Regions 1, 2 at 3
  • February 4 (Monday) – Regions 10, 8, CAR at CARAGA

Unfortunately, some applicants expressed their disappointment in the new policy that can cause inconvenience to them.

LTO has also issued an apology for the inconvenience of their new system.
