Who dominates in Kapamilya versus Kapuso ratings?

KAPAMILYA VERSUS KAPUSO RATINGS – Both networks are claiming that they have topped the ratings but which is the one that really dominated the other?

Both the ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network, Inc. have claimed that they are on the top spot when it comes to television ratings throughout 2018. This is using reports from various audience measurements.

According to PhilStar, Kantar Media which measures ratings from 2,610 urban and rural homes, ABS-CBN said that they have an average audience share of 45%, this is not including data during the Holy Week against all networks in 2018.

The company led by the Lopez have accordingly led the Metro Manila and Mega Manila respectively gaining an average audience share of 42% and 36%.

All over the island, Kapamilya network have accordingly topped and won the households with following share: Total Luzon at 40%, Total Visayas at 53% and Total Mindanao at 52% based on the report.

However, on the other hand, rival network GMA also have the same claims challenging that of ABS-CBN. From the data of Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, their total day people audience share for the whole year is 40.8% in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).

NUTAM accordingly has 900 more households surveyed in Total Urban and Rural Philippines compared to Kantar Media. Aside from NUTAM, GMA also topped in Urban Luzon with a total day audience share for the whole year of 45.9% and 47.7% in Mega Manila.

When it comes to time block ratings, ABS-CBN had 38% average audience share in the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 p.m.), 44% on noontime block (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.), 43% in afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), and 49% share for the prime time block (6 p.m. to 12 a.m.).

Also, 16 of the Kapamilya shows was also the most-watched in 2018 including “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” with 41.2% average national TV rating. GMA, however, did not presented their time block ratings but noted that their magazine program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” topped the most-watched program for this year.
