Catriona Gray Reveals Meaning of her Evening Gown During Miss Universe 2018 Preliminary Round
MISS UNIVERSE – Filipina candidate for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray revealed the meaning of her evening gown during the preliminary round.
The prestigious beauty contest Miss Universe 2018 will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17, 2018. The pageant is participated by 94 delegates from different countries in the world.
Last year’s winner from South Africa Demi Leigh Nel-Peters will be there to crown her successor at the end of the pageant.
Philippines’ representative for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is one of the 94 candidates who aspire to win the crown.
The preliminary round was finished last Thursday where the beautiful ladies expose their swimsuit and evening gown. On that segment, the committee will pick 20 candidates who will advance for the semifinals. The result of their judging will be announced during the coronation night on Monday.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, Catriona Gray shared important details about evening gown she wore during the Miss Universe 2018 preliminary round.
Catriona stated that Mak Tumang’s gown was inspired from the magical bird of the Filipino epic story “Ibong Adarna”. “He really took the time and effort,” she said.
The “Ibong Adarna” was a story that is part of the first year high school or now grade seven lessons.
“Every single stone was hand-placed… the effort and love that went into this dress…I feel so proud and so honored to wear it,” Catriona added.
According to the report, Mak Tumang said Catriona Gray’s “Adarna” gown also has similar elements to the Mikimoto crown of the Miss Universe winners.
Catriona’s evening gown was created by 16 artisans for 113 days and the all the materials that were used for the gown costs P1,025,091.
