Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Declares EDSA As A Traffic Discipline Zone For Motorists
MMDA – The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently declared EDSA as a traffic discipline or self-discipline zone for motorists.
Everyone agrees that we need order when it comes to road rules especially since the roads are filled with drivers who lack discipline and do what they want may it be jeepney drivers, taxi drivers, motorists, and the like.
An expert even suggests that we need to follow loading and unloading rules to alleviate the traffic especially this holiday season where everyone wants to go home to spend time in their families.
The point is, we need to discipline ourselves so that we will avoid any incidents, problems, etc. We must not wait for the enforcer to impose this to us. This is why the MMDA recently declared EDSA a traffic discipline or self-discipline zone.
According to Inquirer, MMDA Traffic Manager Bong Nebrija explained that motorists, and eventually drivers, must follow traffic rules even if the traffic enforcers are not around.
Nebrija further added that motorists must give courtesy to other motorists, maintain the discipline and abide to the law. The agency is focusing more on the re-education and reminding of the drivers instead of capturing and punishing those who violated.
As per the report, Nebrija wants the drivers to remove the idea that the EDSA is a giant racing highway where they compete who’s first in line. Lastly, he advised the drivers to set aside their selfishness and prioritize the welfare of other drivers who travel via EDSA.
