Every last quarter of the year, the Philippines usually experience a series of powerful typhoons affecting the weather condition.

Different weather systems usually affect the country during the Yuletide season including the northeast monsoon “Amihan” that was expected to intensify this week.

Here are some of the weather systems that will affect the country this month:

Northeast Monsoon

  • A cool and dry wind from Siberia carrying cold weather condition and could also bring rains over the eastern section of the country.

Tail-End of a Cold Front

  • The convergence of the winds from the east and north-east that could also bring rains.

Thunderstorms

  • Thunderstorms or localized thunderstorms would also affect the country

Low-Pressure Area

  • It is usually formed during this season, which eventually developed into a storm.

Easterlies

  • A warm wind from the east, which usually occurs when Amihan starts weakening and also brings a warmer weather.

Intertropical Convergence Zone

  • The convergence of winds from the northeast and southeast that becomes a breeding ground of low-pressure area.

Tropical Cyclone

  • Two to three tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) during this month.
