2 actors arrested for wearing PNP uniform
Authorities arrested 2 actors during a taping for illegal use of the uniform of Philippine National Police (PNP).
The said taping happened in Barangay San Isidro, Cainta, Rizal last Sunday.
According to Faustino Angeles Jr., the producer of the film, the movie is about HIV and illegal substances. He said that they intend to compete for a film fest in Thailand.
However, their shoot was stopped, based on the report from GMA’s Balitambayan.
The production team was shooting the supposed to be a buy bust scene in which the 2 actors are playing that characters of policemen.
As the taping was going on, based on the report, the officials from Brgy. San Isidro approached the team.
That was because they had no permit to conduct that kind of activity in the Barangay.
People from the production team apologized for that.
A few moments later, Barangay officials went back and they were asked to go with them at the police station.
There was a policeman who was on-duty that time and reprimanded them about the PNP uniform that the 2 actors were wearing.
After their conversation, they were brought to the police station. After this, the actors wearing the PNP uniform were arrested, had a mugshot and medical tests.
Then, the next thing that happened was the actors were jailed.
Police Superintendent Pablito Naganag, the chief of Cainta police stated that the uniforms that the actors wore were really identical to PNP uniform.
The film producer said that they apologized repeatedly because they have no intention to destroy the image of PNP in their movie.
Apparently, residents on that area were already traumatized of an incident that a criminal there wore a police uniform.
The 2 actors are facing usurpation of authority and illegal use of uniforms or insignia charges.
They refused to give a statement in front of the camera, based on the report.
