PWD Teacher Richard Navor Uses Disability to Inspire his Students

PWD TEACHER – A Person with Disability (PWD) teacher used his disability to inspire his students to overcome challenges in life.

31-years old Richard Navor is a successful financial analyst and a professor at the University of the East in Caloocan.

Richard also teaches senior high school students at the St. Gabriel Academy in Caloocan every Wednesday.

He is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder which affected his motor skills, movement and muscle tone.

Despite being a PWD, Richard did not let his ailment hinder his aspiration to become a successful person and to inspire other people.

Based on a report from iJuander, the PWD teacher travels alone in his car in going to schools and waits for a student to fetch his things.

Richards’ classroom is located on the third floor of the building so it would be very hard for him to carry his things with his cane.

Richard Navor is an epitome of a very strong person even though he could not do things that easy, he is extraordinary.

You may see him struggle from walking or not fast enough to climb up stairs but he has achieved enough and might surpass some people who are physically normal.

According to the report, the PWD teachers’ students expressed that they admire him for being so firm regardless of his disability.

The PWD teacher stated that he felt so much fulfillment when he teaches. Being an educator helped him continue his journey.

“Kasi yung fulfillment that I get from teaching, yun yung nag ke-keep saakin eh…yun yung isang bagay na tumutulong saaking para ituloy yung journey,” he said.

Based on the report, Richard said he enjoys teaching and there is nothing in the world that can compare his gladness seeing his students learning and inspired because of him.

The PWD not only teaches the academic lesson but also inspires them to overcome challenges that life would give to every one of us.
