Sexual harassment in the pageant world is REAL, and oftentimes, it’s the organizers that pave way for it, whether intentionally or otherwise. I was once asked to go an office blessing, only to realize later that it’s a private party. Just 4 girls in a sea of about 30 drunk men.

I have spoken up about this many times and have condemned the practice of having sponsors host a private party with candidates or pageant winners (especially ones that involve drinking) many times, but mine was just one voice in this huge industry. In all my Q and A training sessions with beauty queens, I warn them about this and tell them not be scared to call out people out and to speak up if it happens to them.

As much as it hurts me to learn that more beauty queens have been victims, I am hopeful that changes in the conduct of pageants will soon be done now that more women are speaking up.
