LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra Says Fare Matrix Costs ₱560, Not ₱610 As Reported
FARE MATRIX – LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra made clear that operators will only pay ₱560 and not the ₱610 that was widely reported.
According to Delgra, jeepney operators will pay ₱510 for the regulatory fee; and ₱50 for the matrix itself, thus, adding up to ₱560. In an interview, he said that there’s a regulatory fee that was provided earlier in 2001. He further added that it’s a department order which mandates a fee of ₱510 every time you apply for a fare matrix, which would only cost ₱50. The matrix is to cover admin cost.
Delgra even said that he has no idea where the information of the ₱610 came from. He further noted that the collected money will be transferred to the National Treasury.

A report from GMA News states that the operators and drivers suppoedly have to pay ₱610 to claim the new matrix. Here is the breakdown of the cost:
- P40 for franchise verification;
- P50 for fare matrix; and
- P520 for increase of rate
Delga said that the agency will review the fee that was being charged to drivers and operators. He further apologized to the jeepney drivers and operators for the process they went through to obtain the fare matrix. He said that he was surprised and that was not the kind of event that he would be handling in as far as the agency is concerned.
As per the report, Delga said that the distribution of the fare matrix will be transferred to the LTFRB’s central office in order to avoid congestion. The LTFRB encouraged drivers to claim the copy of the new fare matrix in order for them to charge passengers with ₱10. Lastly, violators will be charged from ₱5,000 to ₱15,000
